Surgical process

An easy outpatient process, keeping in mind that as with every surgery, there are risks involved. To start you should be ready to stop using contact lenses and/or prescription eye glasses. The second most important step: look for a responsible, professional and outstanding institution to perform your surgery, one that has professionals with up to date training in the latest eye surgery technologies.

The surgery

1. A comprehensive eye and vision exam is conducted to establish the refractive defectiveness, your vision level and what can be accomplished once surgery is completed. Ideally, you will be able to see as if you had your prescription eye glasses or contact lenses on.

2. If you use contact lenses, you must not use them at least 10 days prior to the appointment, use prescription eye glasses instead.

3. Once the evaluation is done, pachymeter exams are conducted to determine the thickness and curvature of the cornea and at the same time discard any other possible traumas.

4. In the operation room, anesthesia in the form of eye drops is used and the surgical procedure should take no more than 10 minutes.

Healing process

As this is an outpatient procedure, the next day, if you so desire, you may resume your daily activities. You must use for 10 days prescription eye drops and during the same time dark sunglasses to prevent sunrays. During the first month do not use swimming pools, beaches, saunas, smoke. Women should not use eye make up during this time either.
